BIOGRAPHY

Finlay is a North-East based drummer and percussionist with over a decade of experience. Over the last few years he's been drumming in Jazz and Big Bands; performing solo marimba works; playing orchestral timpani as well as much more...

Finlay started drumming at 8 years old and hasn't looked back since.

He branched out into tuned percussion a few years later and, taking part in various local ensembles, he knew that this was something he wanted to continue further.

At just 14 years old, Finlay obtained Grade 8 in both Drum Kit and Tuned Percussion, as well as more recently his Grade 8 in Snare Drum, passing all with Distinction.

Finlay is currently Principal Percussionist with Northumberland Orchestral Society, as well as a regular drummer with local Jazz and Big Bands. He also regularly perform solo works.

Finlay has played many concerts, guest-playing with the Easington Colliery Band, Tyndale Orchestra and performing in the Sage's prestigious Hall One as well as smaller, more intimate venues, such as the Sunderland Fire Station.

Finlay has recently been hired for musical theatre bands, playing percussion in The Addams Family and is excited for his next journey into the pit for an upcoming production of Evita.

Finlay enjoys playing, learning and improving and is looking forward to continuing his musical journey into the future!
